**Role: GIS Specialist — Remote (EST) | \$70/hr | Full-time Contract**

UNIVERSAL Technologies (M/WBE) seeks a senior **GIS Specialist** (6+ years) to support modernization of the **NYS GIS content & hosting platform**.
Own automation of workflow processes, scripting new procedures, and testing **GIS web services** for reliable data integration and performance.

**Scope**
- Configure/work with databases; develop **functions & queries** for GIS apps.
- Develop, test, and deploy **GIS software & datasets**.
- Create scripts / OOP solutions (**Python** preferred) to automate workflows.
- Run **ETL** manually and via scheduled automation (triggers, actions, indicators, notifications, logging).
- Test & troubleshoot GIS DB scripts, tools, and workflows.

**Must-haves**
- Bachelor’s in Geography/Math/CS (or related) and **6+ years** relevant experience.
- 6–10 years configuring databases (functions/queries).
- Proven automation + **Python** (arcpy/related acceptable), GIS services testing.
- Reside in the **EST time zone**.

**Compensation/Type**
- **\$70/hour**, W2 with benefits (health, dental, life, 401k, HSA/FSA, PTO, holidays).
