The University of Idaho's **Idaho Geological Survey (IGS)** is hiring a **Research Support Geologist** to assist with aggregate and building materials inventory projects across Idaho.
**Location:** Moscow, ID
**Type:** Full-time, Fiscal Year (1.0 FTE)
**Salary:** \$54,080/year or higher, depending on experience
**Status:** Non-exempt (classified)

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation of aggregate and construction material records.
- Digitize legacy data (PDFs, JPEGs, TIFFs) and build structured records in GIS-enabled spatial relational databases.
- Utilize ArcGIS Pro, Google Earth, and Adobe tools for editing and cataloging.
- Conduct in-state field visits and manage diverse document types for geoscience archival purposes.
- Work with geologic maps, ownership records, test data, and public information materials.
**Required Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s in Geology, Geography, or related field; OR 4+ years of experience in GIS or applied geoscience.
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, Google Earth) and digital media handling.
- Strong skills in document and image editing (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop).
- Comfortable with organizing and maintaining spatial databases.
**Preferred:**
- Experience with Idaho-specific geography and geologic data.
- Coursework in library science or GIS certification.
- Familiarity with mine/mineral resource mapping, digital collections, and metadata organization.
**Work Conditions:**
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs and travel occasionally in-state.
