Barrick is hiring a Senior Exploration Geologist for its Africa & Middle East Exploration team, based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This role supports Barrick''s joint venture partnership with Ma’aden and focuses on discovering world-class gold and copper deposits across highly prospective exploration districts.
**About the Role:**
The Senior Exploration Geologist will support desktop and field-based target evaluations, design and execute exploration programs, and contribute to the discovery of economically viable orebodies. The role requires strong field capability, geological interpretation skills, technical leadership, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will report to the Exploration Manager and help shape an expanding exploration portfolio in the region.
**Responsibilities:**
- Contribute strongly to safety culture and ensure safe exploration practices.
- Plan, supervise, and execute exploration field activities including drilling, trenching, mapping, geophysics, and geochemistry.
- Compile, clean, analyze, and interpret geological datasets to generate and assess exploration targets.
- Collaborate with technical teams to deliver exploration strategy and growth objectives.
- Lead geological best practices and build robust target models.
- Develop regional, camp-scale, and target-scale geological models.
- Interpret lithology, stratigraphy, structure, alteration, and mineralization.
- Support project due diligence reviews including technical, financial, and legislative aspects.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams including mining, resources, legal, and social departments.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports, technical presentations, and updates for senior management.
- Mentor and develop local geological team capabilities.
- Design and implement standard operating procedures.
- Monitor QA/QC procedures and maintain project data integrity.
- Travel extensively to field offices and project areas on a FIFO roster.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor''s degree in Geology or Geoscience from a recognized institution.
- Advanced degree such as MSc or PhD is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in greenfield or brownfield exploration.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, community, and environmental practices.
- Experience in VMS and/or orogenic structurally controlled gold deposits is required.
- Exposure to Arabian-Nubian Shield geology is an advantage.
- Experience in world-class exploration districts and Tier 1 ore bodies is preferred.
- Strong understanding of mineralization models and geological processes.
- Strong geological, geophysical, and geochemical interpretation skills.
- Self-motivated, discovery-driven, and leadership-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work effectively within high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in GIS and 3D geological modelling software.
- Experience with ArcGIS, Leapfrog Geo, Micromine, and ioGAS is considered an asset.
- Strong technical presentation and reporting skills for both technical and business audiences.
- Good communication and administration skills.
- Ongoing professional development and membership in professional organizations is preferred.
- Europe or Africa / Middle East based candidates are preferred.
