Welcome to part one of our brand new, beginner-friendly tutorial series, “HTML and CSS for Beginners: What are HTML and CSS?” In this first live session of the series we will set you up for a fantastic journey into the world of web development.
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are the basic building blocks of web. What they do and how they do it, let's see them in action together in creating beautiful, sexy and alive websites.
Come with us and ease into HTML and CSS. We will take this powerful language down a notch with simple, but not too simpler terms. HTML is used for organizing the structure of Web content, while CSS adds skin to the structure.
Next, we’re going to be taking a look at CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), the language which is used to style our web documents. We’ll cover everything from how to change font colors, sizes, and styles in CSS, to applying colors and background images to your web pages, and even some CSS selectors and units along the way. By the end of this section you’ll have written your first lines of CSS code, and learned how you can use CSS to really bring your web designs alive with creative flair and visual impact.
However, this is not just theory – we will give you practical examples and show you some of the things done in HTML and CSS so you can appreciate their applicability. Just as we develop basic web pages, you are required to apply what we have learned among the HTML tags and CSS properties for a given look and feel.
