**Role Overview:**
We are seeking a highly experienced GIS Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise GIS data frameworks supporting smart city initiatives and spatial intelligence platforms. This role requires deep technical expertise in geospatial data modeling, database optimization, and architecture design within Esri and open-source GIS ecosystems.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design and implement scalable GIS data architectures for enterprise-wide systems.
- Lead spatial database modeling efforts using PostgreSQL/PostGIS or similar platforms.
- Integrate diverse spatial datasets (e.g., land use, infrastructure, IoT) into unified architectures.
- Ensure data integrity, standardization, and governance across GIS platforms.
- Work closely with GIS developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to align architecture with strategic goals.
- Oversee ETL pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and serving spatial data.
- Support interoperability between Esri platforms, GeoServer, and other geospatial tools.
- Define and enforce data standards, metadata schemas, and security protocols.
- Contribute to the modernization of geospatial infrastructure, including support for big data, real-time feeds, and cloud GIS solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to GIS engineering teams.
**Required Skills & Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geomatics, or related field.
- 8+ years of GIS experience, including 4+ years in data architecture roles.
- Advanced skills in spatial databases: PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, etc.
- Strong experience with Esri tools: ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, ArcGIS Server, etc.
- Proficiency in data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical).
- Knowledge of open-source GIS tools like GeoServer, QGIS, or MapServer.
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, and ETL tools (FME, GeoKettle, or custom pipelines).
- Understanding of location intelligence, smart city data frameworks, and sensor-based data streams.
- Experience with enterprise data governance, security, and documentation practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
**Nice to Have:**
- Experience with cloud GIS deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with microservices, APIs, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Exposure to AI/ML models for geospatial data enrichment.
