Humane World for Animals is a global leader in animal advocacy and protection. The Pets for Life (PFL) department supports access to pet care and promotes equity in the human-animal bond through data-driven strategy, storytelling, and community partnership.
**Position Overview:**
The GIS Analyst I will manage and maintain PFL’s database and website, use GIS systems to analyze and visualize program data, and support internal teams and external partners. You will help shape data strategy for outreach, policy, and fundraising.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage, maintain, and update the Pets for Life database and WordPress-based website.
- Administer and support ArcGIS Desktop, Online, and ArcGIS administrator environments.
- Create, interpret, and update spatial datasets; develop both static and interactive maps.
- Use SQL for data extraction, analysis, program reporting, and goal tracking.
- Train and support database users across the country and internationally.
- Troubleshoot database and website issues with support from consultants.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing feature updates for the system.
- Collaborate with internal teams on GIS strategy to support storytelling, fundraising, and policy development.
- Ensure innovation in GIS mapping use for Access to Care programs.
- Design and implement data collection systems and evaluation tools.
- Maintain data integrity and assist in cleaning and repairing partner-submitted data.
- Create training documentation and offer continuous support for mentorship partners.
- Perform other duties as needed.
**Qualifications & Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 4 years of related experience.
- Strong proficiency in ArcGIS, SQL, and WordPress.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality outcomes.
- Ability to travel if needed.
- Passion for animal protection and social equity is highly desirable.
